i'm off to save Mufasa from the wildebeest stampede!!

Ahoy dear loved ones! This entry's gonna be short and sweet as my life was slightly boring this week but it's about to get hella more exciting! It's SAFARI TIME!!

But first, let's not mess with the chronological tradition of this lovely lil' blog. Monday i went to the office, did much of nothing. Tuesday was Kenyatta day (Jomo Kenyatta was Kenya's first, post-colonial president and he's on aaaaall the monies). i had some errands to run at the mall, so off i went. The mall was open but all the shops were closed? Um, wtf? Wednesday i again did much of nothing during the day at the office and then i came home and watched the news and got depressed because there's this gay Kenyan couple that lives in England and they got married and it's all over the news. Homosexuality is technically illegal in Kenya and the story's been huge and it makes me so sad about how gay people are treated here. There was an article in the paper about this group of important people who were speaking out about how happy they were that protection for homosexuals was left out of constitutional reforms because its an "abhorrent immoral act" (the newspaper itself wasn't biased, it just ran the story). Anyways, when i see stuff like this here it makes me sad, especially considering that it's perfectly normal to see two straight men that are friends walking down the street holding hands. Yep. Yet again, um, WTF?!

So before i go off on any more tangents, let's move on to Thursday! So today, Joel and myself were supposed to go to Rongai and i was supposed to continue the forums that we started last week. i spent a whole 20 minutes reading over notes and we got to Rongai and there's no youth! Turns out they all went to Nairobi to perform at this function that a bunch of NGOs were holding. So i had a cup of coffee, read the newspaper and then we came back. A bit of a waste but it was nice to get home early and have a nice short week.

And tomorrow, 8AM, we're off to the Masai Mara! AH! i'm so excited! Yes, the above photo is of all the shite i'm taking, and yes, i own a pair of leopard print, pink lined rain boots. Aren't you jeealous. And yes, that one bag is snacks for the weekend, and yes, those are apples at the top. But don't be fooled friends, underneath is full of Oreos and gummi bears, because really, it's me. What were you expecting? i've left Joanna in charge of a couple of bottles of wine, so it should be an AWESOME weekend! i'll fill you in when i get back and post photos of something other than my boots!

MUCHO LOVE LOVE!!
